In the field trip to a pond near Vila do Bispo it was possible for the about 30 participants, to observe and have direct contact with some of the most emblematic species of fauna of the ponds in this county. The researchers Margarida Cristo and Margarida Machado of the University of Algarve gathered and demonstrated the various species of large branchiopods crustaceans and some amphibians present in the visited pond.
The satisfaction expressed by those present was very interresting through the direct contact with some of these species such as Triops vicentinus (kind of tadpole-shrimp that exists only in the Algarve with special representation in Vila do Bispo Municipality) and several fairy-shrimps. Even the owner of the land was in the pond and took part of the visit. He was surprised by the number and diversity of species of living beings present in his pond, which he was unaware. At the end all the animals were again returned alive to their natural habitat!
