"Temporary Ponds: a natural habitat to be protected!"

Where are the bats?

Data: 9th of May
Local: Vila Nova de Milfontes, Portugal

It is late in the day, after sunset that bats begin their nocturnal activity hunting insect. The Mediterranean Temporary Ponds are part of their favorite habitat where these small flying mammals feed on nocturnal insects and drink up water. With the help of biologist Tiago Marques we will try to find, identify or even see these interesting animals.

This session will have a presentation about the biology and ecology of bats and then we will go to a temporary pond to set sound detectors so we can hear, see and perhaps identify some species of bats present through sonograms.

Meeting point: Casa do Povo de Vila Nova de Milfontes
