"Temporary Ponds: a natural habitat to be protected!"

> Tourist pressure

Tourism growth and associated perturbations such as impermeability of soil, deepening the ponds, vehicle trespassing, access roads construction, building constructions for touristic facilities and performance of specific recreational activities such as motocross or off-road rallies, often disrupt directly the habitats and its species. Nonetheless, such tourist impacts decrease the connectivity between sites resulting in a gradual loss of quality and conservation status.

Besides being a tourist area and it tendency to growth is evident during summer months, the local population in Southwest Portuguese Coast gets in conflict with the implementation of conservation measures due to its high expectations by landowners in terms of urban planning in spite of the restrictions foreseen in the legal instruments of territorial planning. This is the very real case of in the SCI of the Southwest Coast.
