As a result of the destruction and degradation of the habitat - due to the irreversible alterations made to these areas in favour of other land uses - there has been a loss of species diversity, as well as spontaneous vegetal or faunal communities, that naturally colonize this kind of habitats. Since several flora and fauna species (some of them priority species) only exist in this particular habitat, the increased perturbations due to human factors result in alterations to their population dynamics, something that may affect their medium/long term sustainability. This threat may occur in the whole area of the Southwest Coast SCI.
